Mallory is losing a tooth, but she isn’t the sort of girl who ponders the wonder and beauty of a tiny being called the Mallory, Mallory Book Review CoverTooth Fairy, who will come in the night with a coin.

Oh, she believes all right, but wonder and beauty isn’t any use to Mallory. She can only see $$$, and has come up with a cunning plan on how to get it! She figures if she captures the Tooth Fairy, she can keep all the money that is given out to children all over the world, for herself.

Arthur is her partner in crime. Well, not really. He lives next to Mallory and doesn’t have anyone else to hang out with. He’s actually quite scared of Mallory. She’s loud, rude, selfish, sneaky and a bully. But…

Mallory is about to meet her match. The Tooth Fairy isn’t anything like the stories. He’s a he for starters, and is no fool. And we all know how magical The Tooth Fairy is. This is another thing Mallory didn’t plan for.

Arthur, Mallory and Arthur’s blue budgie Bruce are soon in a land far from home, meeting strange creatures and trying to avoid being put in a pie!

Mallory won’t give in however, and Arthur is worried just how far she will go. There are much wiser folk than she though, all aware of what she’s really like. Will they ever get home safe?

One conundrum after another in a land of teeth and gums, reminded me much of Alice in Wonderland’s conversations with The Mad Hatter and The Red Queen. Topsy-turvy, and lots of fun, outsmarting some but not all who they meet.

Mallory, Mallory is also a cautionary tale, as you may have a dastardly plan but those you meet may use it against you. It’s also filled with lots of sayings from old, and of course has multiple references to mouth and teeth. See how many you can find. Funny, clever and a little mind-bending too. From a masterful, magical and award winning storyteller.
