The Secret of the Swords

IR WAT13612273

Author – Frances Watts

Age – 6+

I loved this story for 6+ readers – especially as I was a hell-bent Tom Boy until the age of about 15.

Tommy (Thomasina) hates working in the castle kitchens. She’d much rather be learning to use a sword, and spends as much time as possible avoiding her work to watch the knights and knaves training.
One day she is caught by the cook and made to sweep the castle courtyard. When she sees a boy jabbing at a cat with a wooden sword, she steps in to defend it. Word of her skills gets back to Sir Benedict and he gives her a job as Keeper of Swords. Tommy is proud and excited in her new position but more amazing things begin to happen….

(Magic, Castles, Tom Boy, Courage, Friendship, Historical)

First in a series – Loved it!
