Middle School – The Worst Years of my Life

Author – James Patterson

Age – 7+

Rafe Katchadorian is starting Middle school (approx. Intermediate). He isn’t a sports star, particularly good looking or popular. In his 1st school assembly at school, the principal begins to read a list of rules from the school rule book. This is when the idea of breaking every rule in the rule book first hits him. One by one he starts breaking the rules and draws up in his notebook a points system for each one.

From the author of the Maximum Ride and Daniel X series, this book was written for the author’s son who is a reluctant reader. The illustrations and the characterisation will hook any reluctant reader. It was funny, imaginative and real, but it’s not all silliness and pranks. Rafe has a stepfather to be who likes to yell at him and his sister, and a mum who works long hours.
