Easy to read in short concise chapters – but each one moving us forward and giving us so much more. At first I thought this was in Nazi Germany but it couldn’t be – it was 1956. Then I was reading about the moon landing… But that was the US. This book mixes up history and as the author says in her website – ‘What if?’

15 year old Standish Treadwell is dyslexic and has different coloured eyes – enough for the Greenflies (soldiers) and his teachers to write him off as hopeless. But Standish knows and sees more than he lets on and is a fantastic narrator for the story.
