He used to live in a tiny town in a cleared space of jungle. His father was a logger and El Gato was destined to become one too. The only thing to do after school was play soccer, but El Gato was too gangly and the other children gave him a nickname – The Stork.

One day he decides to explore the edge of the jungle – going in further and further every day. One day he finds someone who will change his life forever…

This book won the prestigous Carnegie Medal and is it well deserved. Mal Peet is a fantastic author.
