Author – Michael Morpurgo
Age – 11+
This story is told in two viewpoints – one of a foreign journalist who meets a young mute shepherd boy who is making a kite.
The other of the boy – Said (Sa-eed) who only speaks to his dead older brother Mahmoud at night.
This is a wonderful story about a young boy grieving for his older brother who loved to make and fly kites. Said has a dream of Peace and hopes that the kites he makes in the name of Mahmoud with Peace written on them, will fly across the wall that cuts his land in half to the children on the other side.
Another fantastic story from Michael Morpurgo explaining another side of war to children and teens.
