Tanya can’t help the trouble that follows her around. She can’t explain it to anyone either. Who would believe in the strange creatures that appear everywhere she goes, let alone the horrible tricks and surprises that they lay in wait for her. Little girls think fairies are magical, wonderful creatures, but Tanya knows the truth. Faerie are dark, mischievous, and can draw blood if they wish.

At her wit’s end at the trouble Tanya seems to cause, her mum packs her off to her grandmother’s country manor once again. Tanya is mutinous at this, dreading the only company of her distant grandmother, annoying geek Fabian, Fabian’s father – gruff caretaker Warwick, and Warwick’s mad and ageing father Amos.

The Faerie are there too of course, and still Tanya has to hide her secret. This visit however, reveals more about the Faerie that plague her. The manor is said to have secret tunnels and on this visit Fabian and Tanya have more luck finding them. But soon Tanya wishes she didn’t go searching for things she didn’t understand, for something is waiting for someone like her. Someone with the second sight. Someone that can be dragged into the faerie realm.

The first in a trilogy (that can be read on its own), 13 Treasures is a mystery combining family secrets, dark faeries, a long ago crime and more recently, missing children.

Harry Potter fans will enjoy this story with the promise of more mystery and knowledge of the Faerie Realm to follow. Each chapter begins with a stunning illustration.
