Isla is quite happy with her mum and dad thank, you very much. The thought of a new brother or sister on the way was not a good one in her opinion. In fact, she truly believes their family is full up.
With some craft materials, her mum explains a family tree beginning with Grandma and Grandad. She adds branches and leaves along the way, showing uncles, aunts and cousins. When they add a branch for her family, it seems too small for any more leaves.
When mum shares a secret with Isla, she is surprised and even more concerned about no room on their ‘branch’. At first Isla comes up with an idea while looking at the other larger branches in her family tree. But when mum comes home with her surprise, Isla soon discovers a way for everyone to fit.
Quick Review
Isla’s family tree is a combined story of a new baby in the house, along with learning about her family tree. Her mum is patient in her explanation of family tree’s branches and leaves and how families grow just like trees.
Isla’s solution is believable and funny, until she comes round to the truth and a wonderful surprise.
