Four boys are hanging out, watching Fred’s fish called Zed.Who Fed Zed Book Review Cover

Fred begins to tell the story of when Zed was fed bread.

‘Oh No!’

The vet said, ‘No more bread for Zed.’

But poor Zed is about to face something much, much worse instead.

There’s been a mix-up with Zed, but soon it is luckily sorted by Fred.

‘Phew!’

This is a funny, clever rhyming story for children of all ages with a surprise in store at the end.

Clear, simple pictures portray a group of boys around the age of 8-10 hearing the story of Zed and the mishaps befalling him. A terrible mix up could have ended it all! The illustrations seemed to have a 50’s feel – at least until the surprise.

What happens along the way alert the boys to reading labels carefully – a nod by the author to the growing number of food allergies children face.

Who Fed Zed could be used to highlight the fun in rhyme in a classroom activity. Maybe starting with names that rhyme, more fun stories like this could be written by readers themselves.

Loved it.
