Elephant has always loved the sea, but one day his friendly sea sank his boat!

Luckily Elephant found an island. It was a very tiny island, just big enough for Elephant.

After much time alone, a tiny ship came to his rescue. Too tiny.

Another came along, but that didn’t work out too well either.

Elephant is a very resilient elephant, making the best out of every situation, until his situation becomes one for everyone to be part of!

This would be one of my favourite Leo Timmer’s picture books. There is humour, animals, kindness, resilience, and friendship. What’s not to love?

You could also think outside the wonderful story that it is, to thoughts of refugees on swollen waves, making the best of bad situations, or working together as members of a family or community.

Each shipwreck builds a place for all, and a place for readers to pore over each page.

Loved it.
