Boingo is holding his most favourite thing in the world – his golden balloon.
But suddenly, a gust of wind takes it, sending it up in the air. Boingo follows only to see his beloved balloon float up into the trees of the forest. These are very tall trees, in a very big forest. Boingo doesn’t know what to do, but he doesn’t want to lose his balloon either.
A voice from above gives him an idea.
“If you want that balloon, you need to get up here,” says a raccoon.
Boingo makes 1 big, bouncy jump, straight up. Raccoon, gives him some more advice.
“Do 1 jump over to the stumpy tree, and 1 big jump straight up.”
Boingo counts the jumps before he leaps. 2 big jumps.
Jump after jump, he meets creatures throughout the tree tops who give him advice on where to jump next to find his balloon. Boingo adds the jumps together until he reaches 5 jumps and discovers who has his balloon.
Counting back down from 5, he jumps all the home and to the ground again, with all his new friends along too. Not only has he found his most treasured thing, he has discovered his new favorite thing to do!
This fun counting book has been written for young children everywhere, celebrating their energy and bounce! Instead of counting items on a page as in many traditional counting books, Boingo and the Golden Balloon takes little readers/listeners on an adventure through the treetops of a forest, meeting many creatures along the way.
As Boingo bounces, he counts and adds the bounces all the way up to 5, then after finding his balloon, counts all the way back to 1, bringing his new friends with him.
With lightly sketched backgrounds on white pages, the illustrations highlight only Boingo, his friends and the balloon, making it easy for young readers to focus on the story.
