Tonight’s the night!
It’s Christmas Eve.
All the animals have prepared for Santa’s visit, hoping for lots of lovely things to eat.
“They’d hung up their stockings,
and made Christmas wishes
for strawberries, sausages,
fruitcake and fishes.”
Granny McFlitter has been busy around the zoo too, with her marvellous knitting needles. Tinsel, decorations and even a Christmas tree fly from her needles.
All is well, and the zoo finally settles for the night in anticipation for the next day.
Oh no! Something has gone terribly wrong. Stockings have vanished, unravelled or tangled, all over the zoo. What should the animals do?
Amongst the ruckus, Granny McFlitter races to the rescue, discovering the culprit and knitting up a storm.
Hooray! Everything will be okay for Christmas Day!
Such a fun filled and frantic story!
The combination of Christmas, zoo animals, and lots of colour make this new Christmas story perfect for everyone who is awaiting a visit from the jolly red man.
The positivity and can-do feel that Granny McFlitter brings to the story is wonderful for everyone, both reader and listener at this busy time of year.
There’s even an environmental element knitted amongst the action.
A fabulous New Zealand picture book, and the fourth in this picture book series.
