Addie is sixteen and the pariah of Caseham High. After all, she did get a popular teacher fired after an inappropriate relationship. She saysThe Teacher Book Review Cover nothing happened, but no one believes her, except her mother. Addie is relieved to have her mum on her side, but if she knew the truth about something else Addie did…

Eve is a Maths teacher at Caseham High and Addie is in her class. She’s not popular there either as the teacher made to leave was Eve’s own mentor. She’s not kind to Addie who is struggling with the work – which then adds fuel to a fire in Addie, that someone else has set.

That someone is Nate, voted the best looking teacher in the school. He is also married to Eve, and their opposite teaching styles leave their students baffled as to how they can be together.

Eve is strict, no nonsense and gives plenty of homework. Nate sits on his desk, smiles at his students and discusses poetry. Addie isn’t the only girl starstruck by Nate, but when he invites her to join the Poetry Club, something begins to happen. Nate is attentive, Addie is enamoured, and Eve knows nothing… and then she does.

More than one life is ruined that night and the Police are left trying to pull the clues together while searching for a body. Addie is left reeling, but solid in her trust and love for Nate. Can she keep her life from falling apart?

The Teacher is a fabulous teen / adult crossover novel told in three points of view:

  • Addie is sixteen and is head over heels for her teacher.
  • Eve’s life looks perfect on the outside, but she is a disgruntled wife and not sure what to do about it.
  • Nate seems unruffled by anything as he charms everybody he meets – especially girls and women.

This makes a volatile mix as there is more than one secret in the mix and they aren’t minor either. The deeper into the novel I read, the more twists came. It seems there are no innocent bystanders as betrayals reap revenge, and it is mind bending stuff.

Most chapters are short at a few pages, making it even easier to keep the pages turning – right up to the end!

I found the writing easy to devour as the author dropped just enough clues along the way to keep me glued to the page. The reveals in the conclusion hit, BAM, BAM BAM!
