Murray is a cat. He has a very special owner named Fumblethumb. But although his owner is a real wizard (a rubbish one), this story is aboutMurray and Bun (2) Book Review Cover Murray and his very special friend named Bun. Bun is a tiny, very enthusiastic and bouncy rabbit. So why is he called Bun? Because he used to be one. A very sticky bun with a cherry on top.

Bun is a result of their wizard owner’s rubbish wizardry, and now wherever Murray goes, Bun goes too. Murray’s cat door is another victim of Fumblethumb’s terrible magic. Whenever Murray goes through the door, he closes his eyes and hopes for the best.

‘PA – POOOF!’

Murray finds himself in front of an angry princess, a worried king and a man with a fancy moustache named Sir Nasty! Sir Nasty is striding about demanding to marry the princess, when suddenly Murray is challenged to a duel.

This princess has other ideas and she’s off! She has her own plans thank you very much, but when it comes down to it, Murray must win the jousting challenge for her to fulfill her own dreams. (She does think Murray is lovely in a podgy way, but she can’t really marry a cat.)

Before he knows it, with only Bun at his side, armour that doesn’t fit and some decidedly suspect items supplied by Sir Nasty, Murray is facing the angry knight and his horse called Thunderclops.

All Murray can do is stand still, with one eye open and await his fate….

Another laugh out loud magicked cat-flap adventure for Murray the Cat and his best buddy Bun.

Forced through his cat door by rubbish magic once again, Murray is in the time of knights, kings and princesses, and a jousting challenge. Bun’s assurances that jousting is actually just trampolining are welcome at first, but not for long.

Bun’s positive exuberance gets them into trouble more than once and just when Murray thought it might cause his downfall, it has the opposite effect.

I absolutely love the illustration style throughout this series, with its variations between comic strip, full page spreads, illustration amongst text and some that travel across several pages.

It’s funny, slapstick, humour with a podgy cat, a bouncy bunny and a new adventure every time. What’s not to love!
