Rosa, Tilly, Oskar, Milo and Alessia stand in the portal to the great magician, Merlin’s world. But somehow it doesn’t feel right. There arePages & Co (6) The Last Bookwanderer Book Review Cover tourists everywhere, not knights and fair maidens of Arthurian legend.

But they know they must find what they seek. There is Horatio to wake, and Tilly’s family to save from the evil Alchemist. Most of all however, is preventing the Alchemist from finding the Book of Books, which will allow him to control the entire world’s imagination and book wandering.

Finally discovering the mighty Merlin himself, they are surprised at his manner. Just like Robin Hood in their last adventure, Merlin isn’t quite what they imagined. But he does guide them in their quest, sending them into the world of Greek Gods and where the original book wanderer magic originated from.

Meeting gods Odin, Loki and Thor is over whelming for Milo, but Alessia’s straight forward manner allows them to meet those who have what they require to make things right in the real world. It’s very dangerous however, with poison spitting serpents and god’s tempers and egos to tip-toe around.

Tilly and Oskar have their own mission, and are surprised at just how far back imagination goes. Quests completed, they come back together only to discover a betrayal so deep and dangerous, the shock nearly defeats them once and for all.

Only a final imaginative show down, whilst a loved one falls to the evil of Merlin magic, can help them now. With all the courage they can muster, and the skills they have learnt can save them all, once and for all.

Beginning right where Book 5 left off, I was intrigued as to where our young book wandering adventurers would end up next. If you love Greek myths, action and danger, you’ll love this final episode in this series.

A staggering betrayal made me gasp along with the characters, and a loss so deep made me wonder if it was all worth it. But never underestimate the power of imagination as it is opened up to its full power in a thrilling showdown between good and evil.

The conclusion is very satisfying as so many character’s personal growth have them in very different lives.

An excellent series for any one who loves reading, books and who gets a little thrill at the thought of travelling inside their own favourite stories.
