We all know who Dracula is, or at the very least have heard of him. But did you know that 101 pages including 1,000’s of words were slashed from the original manuscript by Bram Stoker? His UK publishers thought if they published it as it was, it would cause mass panic. Why? Because Bram Stoker claimed his story to be true….
Dracul is the prequel to Dracula, some of it based on Bram’s early life as a sickly child, a legend told to him as a boy, and a woman in the character’s household who changed everything. It is written as fiction, but also based on the writing in those cut 101 pages of the original novel and Bram’s own notes, journals and diaries from the late 1800’s.
Dracul reads just as a classic vampire horror should, with mystery, intrigue, fear and even failures – and lots of blood. The author is the great-grand nephew of Bram Stoker and a custodian of the Stoker Family History. As a long-time Dracula fan, I loved it!
Authors – Dacre Stoker and J D Barker
Age – Teen/Adult Crossover 16+
