Cole has a dream. More than anything, he wants to be a knight like his hero Sir Percival who is a knight of Camelot’s Round Table.Attack of the Underwear Dragon Book Review Cover

So Cole decides to write a letter to Sir Percival and explain how much he wants to be a knight. Sir Percival is touched by Cole’s letter and suddenly Cole’s dream is coming true!

His training is long and hard, from learning how to use a sword to how Sir Percival likes his cocoa.

One day, the kingdom is attacked by a dragon. Not just any dragon but an Underwear Dragon. This dragon is fearless, fierce and hungry, and he gobbles through Camelot’s knights.

Can Cole survive the Underwear Dragon?

This picture book made me laugh out loud, and I’m sure young readers will love it too. The underwear component in the title and cover image is the first funny, and then the reader will meet Cole. He is polite, hard working and determined and someone we can all cheer on in his training to be a knight.

His training is shared in hilarious illustrations by Pete Oswald including some sections in rhyme, perfectly balanced within the book. The tale has unexpected twists and turns which surprise and delight,  and culminate in our hero facing his foe.

A funny tale about Courage, Determination, and Manners too, even if the dragon hasn’t got any.

Loved it.
