This bilingual picture book is a counting book showing the young reader or listener many different ways to see, read and hear numbers, 1 through to ten
eg Each page has the No. – 1
the word in English – one
the word in Māori – kotahi
Each page is also part of a rhyming poem, and the facing page shows the bird mentioned in the poem’s sentence.
Underneath the English sentence is the translation in Māori.
The artwork in each illustration is striking, but also helps in learning to count. As the numbers rise, so does the amount of birds in the facing picture. There are many native birds but common introduced species too.
Lots of fun for wee listeners or little readers practising their reading and reo.
