Why is it that I always get the blame? wonders Norman the dog.Blamehounds Book Review Cover

Norman was lying under the dinner table as his family ate their dinner. Dad begins to fart. These farts get smellier and louder, and to avoid any embarrassment, Dad blames his dog.

The next day, the children build a large stack of items to retrieve something off the roof. When everything comes crashing down causing a rainbow of colour across the back lawn – who gets the blame? Norman.

He decides he’s had enough of being blamed – at least without any benefit. He and his pal Ringo hatch a plan to put this right, and go into business as Blamehounds.

Setting up their office in an abandoned public toilet, Blamehounds is hugely successful, stretching across the world, providing enough money to buy entire butcher shops, not just the mouthful of sausages Ringo aspires to in the beginning. Until, one small girl asks a question…

Naming the first chapter Fart sets the tone of the book from the beginning. Each following chapter is also named with one word, following the hilarious plot of these two canines who take over the world with their new idea.

I loved the illustrations throughout this book, and the last one made me burst out laughing. If you have pets in your house, and enjoy fart humour, Blamehounds is a funny, entertaining read. Who knows what your dogs might be thinking when you blame them for your mishaps?
