Calum the Chameleon is off on an adventure around the world to different ecosystems. He invites young readers along to visit many amazing places, and on the
way, offers a search & find activity on every page.
From his own home in the rainforest, across deserts, ice, and tundra, he travels through mangroves and down deep into the ocean and out again.
In each ecosystem, he changes colour. Along with finding him in his new environment, the reader is invited to find other creatures too.
The creatures are given their correct names. eg Fennec Fox, Southern Elephant Seal, Caracal, Isopod, or Leopard Tortoise. Learning these new names can encourage readers to learn more about them and other animals.
At the end of the story where Calum returns home to the rainforest, there is more information about Ecosystems, the special type of chameleon that Calum is, and fascinating facts about chameleons in general.
This information is straight forward and interesting for a young reader to understand, and maybe even launch a love of Earth’s wildlife.
This is the 3rd book from this NZ author / illustrator team – sharing the joy of wildlife in vibrant, colourful images.
