Selina Kyle is trying to keep her and her ill sister fed and safe from nosy neighbours (who might report them to social workers,) and the degradation of the rough part of Gotham city where they live. Life is tough. Their drug addict mother hasn’t been around for a while and her little sister’s Cystic Fibrosis is worsening. When Selina gets a chance to help her sister, she grabs it, not returning to Gotham until years later.
Now Selina is Holly – a wealthy, stylish, young woman who attends all the gala events of the rich and famous. But she has another alias – Cat Woman. She has been trained to be a ruthless thief and killer, and has returned to Gotham to bring its rich and elitist culture down.
Luke Fox (alias Batwing), lives in the same building as Holly and at first writes her off as a spolit, rich cow. But each time they meet at functions, they become more interested in the other, both unaware who they are at night. When Catwoman teams up with Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn, Batwing is under pressure to reign them in while Batman is away on a private mission.
Things seem to be going to plan for Catwoman until her past catches up with her and her life and all those of Gotham is on the line. Despite her training and given mission, Catwoman has her own plans, and will follow through with them – no matter what.
Catwoman is a kick-ass, bad-ass story, full of action, a touch of romance, explosions, jewel thievery, escapes, hand-to-hand combat, technology and unexpected friendships. A great read for DC Comic fans.
You get to know these three, powerful, skilled, intelligent and no fear women – especially Catwoman, and what drives them. Loved it.
