When you look at a horse, what do you see? Colour or lines, or solid, chunky form? Strength, beauty or creatures from a dream? Horses have been depicted in art for thousands of years, from cave drawings to sculpture, paintings, wire, driftwood and pottery.

From France, China, Japan, Italy and England and around the world again. Each artist sees the humble horse in his own way, proving there are many different ways to look at something.

This new story, found 21 years after Ted Geisel’s (Dr.Suess) death, takes us through an art museum, showing us dozens of famous pieces of art based around the horse. Details of the art and their artist are included in the rear of the book, along with insights from the publisher about the wonderful Dr.Seuss himself and his love of animals – especially cats – one of which is the most famous of all his works. Cat in the Hat of course.

Australian Andrew Joyner was asked to illustrate this newly found treasure, and has brought it to life from Ted Geisel’s text and sketches. A must for art and horse lovers alike, let alone any Dr. Seuss fan!
