Anders is now with his sister Rayna at Drekhelm, her new home among the dragons he always thought were the enemy.

He and his friend Lisabet from his home city Holbard are about to face the Dragonmeet – a group of dragons who determine law and order in Drekhelm. Will they be allowed to stay?

Still finding it strange that he and his sister are opposites, he struggles with whose side he should be on. His sister’s side with the Dragons who take them in – albeit warily. Or with his new friends, the Ice Wolves back at Ulfar Academy in Holbard.

The more history he learns about Drekhelm and the last great battle between the wolves and dragons, the more he realises neither are at fault, but also both are – at the same time. Lies, misconceptions, propaganda among the peoples of both places against the other has dug a rift so deep, he wonders if it will ever heal.

Led by his competent, confident sister his entire life, Anders begins to find his own feet, beliefs and inner courage. They have to stop another war.

This part of the trilogy didn’t have quite so much of the tension I relished in the first book, but watching Anders come into his own was interesting. The dragon flights and fights were thrilling, along with the revelations about the twins’ parents and how they too wanted to prevent conflict across their two worlds.
