Elvie loves life in the backyard of the Pollock family. She has the company of chickens, visiting seagulls and a ginger cat named Goldie. She
even goes for walks with Mr Pollock to the park.
But one day he is unhappy with her humans. Unlike the year before, the Pollock children have chosen their chickens for the School Pet Parade.
Elvie is very put out, and determined to prove them wrong about their choice – or at least be part of all the action.
With determination and an adventurous spirit, she sets off….
Unfortunately her journey doesn’t quite go as planned, with a few hiccups along the way.
Elvie the Exceptional City Sheep is a sweet story for both city and country kids. Elvie is a very relatable and funny character, cheeky, brave and stubborn, and winning the hearts of readers is inevitable. Based on true events, that may not have happened quite like this adventure.
Illustrations by Emma Lay are in soft tones, but perfectly portray the sharp mind of a beloved family pet, seeking the limelight she feels she deserves.Â
