Eugene’s Birthday is coming up, but instead of thinking about what always does on his special day, he has to pack up his bedroom. They are moving!
Not just to another house but an island where they will be the only family there. His dad has a new job looking after birds on the island and Eugene, his brother Miles and Mum are all going too. The only problem is, they have to move on Eugene’s birthday.
Mum and Dad say it will be extra special with their move but Eugene isn’t convinced.
With large print and black and white illustrations through this early chapter book, this is a great beginning to this new NZ series. This kiwi family is starting a new life on an island and many adventures await them.
Eugene’s problem will resonate with young readers and they will love the way Eugene comes up with a solution to not only a problem that affects the whole family, but makes sure of his favourite birthday tea. No. in the series The Christmas Visitors is out now and there are two more adventures coming in 2022.
