Bodhi’s mum and dad might be crazy about the ocean and what lives there, but he’s not. He doesn’t like all the fishy photographs and pictures that fill every wall of his house, including the penguins that ‘watch him poop’ in their toilet.

Now out on a trip to the Galapagos Islands where his dad is studying sea cucumbers and his mum taking underwater photography, Bodhi is avoiding sharks, sea slugs and the skipper’s daughter. Emely loves pranking him, but when she tricks him into drinking a green smoothie, something amazing happens!

At first, Bodhi is horribly, violently, grossly, disgustingly sick. But when he finally feels better he discovers he can swim underwater – for a long time – without breathing! Emely is even more excited than he is, telling him he can be a fish boy super hero.

And so begins their first adventure of being island castaways, and poacher spys. They encounter barracuda, hammerhead sharks and a marine iguana they name Guapo. He is just one of the creatures of the Galapagos islands that fascinate the family.

During this story there are full page Fish-Kid Facts about the ocean creatures the children are coming across. The facts are fun, freaky and interesting and add to other environmental themes in the story.
