Ben Herbert is missing his Granny. It’s been a year since she passed away leaving Ben with only memories of their time together and of oneGangsta Granny Strikes Again special night in particular. It was the night he and his Granny, or Gangsta Granny as he dubbed her, went on an exhilarating adventure, tried to steal the crown jewels from the Tower of London and ended up meeting the Queen instead!

That fateful night involved others too. There was PC Fudge who inadvertently helped Ben and Gangsta Granny in their mission instead of arresting them, and the nosiest-nosy-parker-neighbour Mr Parker, who has been keeping a very close eye on Ben ever since.

Now, the news of more heists and thefts get Ben’s attention. They sound like they’re the work of The Black Cat – his Granny’s cat burglar name. But that can’t be right!? Granny has gone.

With increasing pressure from Mr Parker and his gang (he prefers Neighbourhood Support Group) of cranky oldies, Ben soon realises if he doesn’t find out who is the thief, the robberies may be pinned on him! Putting all the clues together with the help of his buddy Raj and an old, but new friend, Ben tries to put things right.

With the hinderance and help of an iceberg costume, a toff lobster and a Raj shop special, the action, calamity and chaos surrounds Ben again on another perilous adventure through the dark streets of London.

The sequel to the hilarious and sweet Gangsta Granny, this is Gangsta Granny Strikes Again, or does she? This novel can be read on its own, but will definitely make the reader want to learn more about Ben’s amazing Granny.

Chocka with Tony Ross’ illustrations that we know and love in David Walliams novels and the usual Walliams’ wiggling, off into funny lists and tangents during the story, this sequel is full of slapstick humour and crazy characters. The Queen is a scream.
