Kelly knows she has to hide the weird lump that seems to be growing bigger by the minute in the centre of her forehead. She lives in a world ruled by a man called The Soul Collector. Ruthless, greedy, selfish and heartless, he rules with an iron fist with the use of magical items and a private army called the KG (Kingdom Guards) to keep control.
It is law to report any strange occurrences or people to the KG, so The Soul Collector can consider them for his collection. Kelly tries to avoid the cameras that see everything in her city, and is also struggling with other changes within her mind. She’s always been a freakily fast runner, and at her mum’s insistence has kept her talent hidden, but now other skills are developing almost quicker that she can handle. She begins hearing voices – thoughts – other people’s thoughts. Her speed increases and that weird bump is still growing.
In the meantime, an archaeologist named Stanley cannot stand it any more. He has been under William James’ (The Soul Collector) control for some time, and has already lost his wife to the Collector’s strange powers. Under instruction to research and find more treasures, Stanley begins to decipher an ancient text. Entitled Prophecies and Portents, Stanley is excited to discover something that may change life as they know it. A Unicorn, a Griffin and a Minotaur will be reborn as children of humanity. Could this be a Prophecy for their time? Could there be a way to fight back?
DC and Marvel fans will love this series of new superheroes.
The black and white illustrations and storyline are much more complex than this author’s previous series – Hot Dog, Ninja Kid and even Wolf Girl.
Looking forward to seeing Kelly in action in future episodes against the truly evil Soul Collector.
