Deep in the Great Wood stands a magical tree. It’s called the Forever Tree. Anything made from its wood has magical properties.

Three children, Zam Zephyr, Phoebe Limetree and Bathsheba Greengrass are about to find a magical item, crafted for them alone. When all three make the same wish for a deep need…

Cloud horse, Cloud horse, far from view, make this wish of mine come true.”

…they are startled when their wish is granted. After all, aren’t Cloud Horses just fairytales?

Meanwhile, there are three evil doers with cunning plans of glory, wealth and power:

The Clockmaker of Nightingale has ordered the Great Wood felled for his own use.

Euphemia Goldencurls of Beam is a Giant Slayer. Although the opposite is true, she has made sure her little town believes Giants are dangerous and troublesome, just so her high standing in the The Society of Giant Slayers remains.

The Rat King and his army of rats rule the town of Troutwine, threatening havoc if their fees are not paid.

Zam, Phoebe and Bathsheba have had to flee these towns and all unexpectedly meet in the Tumbledowns – a place for misfits. When they learn each other’s stories of unfairness and control, they know they have to do something about it.

With fairytale flying horses, giants, great black bears, courage and their magical tools, they put plans together to finally put things right.

This beautiful hardback would make a wonderful gift to any young reader with a love of fantasy, magic and fairness. As I read this first episode, I turned the pages in anticipation of seeing one stunning illustration after the other. Sumptuous!
