Rabbit sits in the opening of his burrow, looking out at the trees and fields that lay in front of him. He’s already thinking that the day isn’t as good as he’d hoped.
“But tomorrow… well, tomorrow was sure to be extraordinary.”
But the next morning didn’t bring anything different. It didn’t feel like the tomorrow he’d been wishing for. He decides that tomorrow must be lost and he sets off to find the perfect one.
His friend Duck couldn’t help.
His friend Bear couldn’t help.
Even Turtle couldn’t help. They’d all come along with Rabbit, looking, smelling, and listening for the tomorrow he was looking for, to no avail. They head off down a hill, still searching and leaving Rabbit alone on the hill.
He’s not alone for long. It’s not until he nearly has no more tomorrows that he realises how special today is.
I LOVE this thoughtful, simple but clever picture book about the power of now, the joy of friends, a sunny day and companionship. It’s about gratitude, and enjoying the moment, but concepts of time – yesterday, today and tomorrow, and our senses of sight, smell and sound are also part of the story.
These story layers make this a picture book for young and old, and readers anywhere in the world.
