Star Boy and others in his class were observing Earth when some of his classmates play up in class and wreak havoc with Earth’s atmosphere. How to be a Human Book Review Cover A terrible storm floods the town of Fairfield, and Star Boy crash lands in the local school, Fairfield Academy. This of course could be very scary for an alien, but Star Boy is delighted as he has always been fascinated in humans.

Hiding himself and his craft, Star Boy chooses two human children to study. One of them is acting strangely, coming through a hole in the school back fence instead of the gate like the other humans, and another sits alone on the steps nearby – the other children ignoring him.

Star Boy’s 1st choice is Kiki, who climbed through a hole in the fence to avoid the group of girls and others who have humiliated her in person and on social media. This group of girls used to be Kiki’s friends – or so she thought. Now she is on her own.

The boy Star Boy chose is Wes, who has always been a bit of a loner, whether at school or at home with no siblings and a dad who doesn’t like leaving home since his mum left. He is also the target of bullies but in a different way, pushed about and called names.

Little do they know it, but an upcoming school promotion evening is the catalyst to throwing Star Boy, Wes and Kiki together, resulting in an often funny, thought provoking and electrifying friendship. Or is it?

Star Boy must make a choice whether to leave, Kiki where her loyalty and true self lies and Wes, whether he will forgive her.
