Jason Mason is on a new top secret mission. This time it’s in the City of Love – Paris, France. Why did I put ‘France’ in there asJason Mason and the Dastardly Master of Disguise Book Review Cover well? You’ll have to read the book to find out.

This time his Mum and Dad are along for the adventure, as they believe Jason has won a competition for the travel. Backing Jason up on his mission is of course, Agent Rātana, with Flight Lieutenant Dan not far away. But are they the people they say they are?

Making things super difficult this time is a new villain who is a dastardly master of disguises! Now that villain Hugh Jarse is in prison, Jason’s team can focus on this new threat. Jason’s special skills are needed to counter a terrible plot and a device that is sitting high on the Eiffel tower.

Jason is excited to be part of another mission, but he’s feeling a little guilty about lying to his best mate Kyle about his disappearances. Should he tell him, even though he signed a special-agent-never-tell-anyone-anything document? He’s a little worried about his Nana too. She’s said some strange things lately.

Going up against this new criminal soon fills his mind as his mission begins. He must deactivate an evil machine that will affect every single Parisian citizen. Can he do it in the 58 seconds he’s been given?

Another laugh-out-loud, exciting, secret agent mission for Jason Mason.

Jason talks directly to the reader, and along with the fun fonts, and funny illustrations dotted throughout the book, a reader’s connection to Jason is easy and early. His assurance that you don’t have to read Book 1 & Book 2 to enjoy this episode, also helps readers settle in to the story.

Clever word play, funny sayings, some toilet humour and even fascinating random facts bring even more to this story, as Jason’s authenticity as a normal kiwi kid shines through.

There are lots of kiwi references through the novel too. This would make a fun activity for students to find them all, as Jason’s first overseas mission plays out.

A funny series perfect for reluctant readers, or anyone who likes to laugh.
