Book Review – Lost In the Wild (A Dog’s Tale)

A family picnic in the New Zealand bush becomes an adventure for two small dogs called Maddi and Borrie.Lost in the Wild - A Dog's Tale Book Review Cover

Being in the bush with their family is exciting for the young dogs, and the plethora of new smells is too intoxicating to ignore.

The family’s older dog Holly watches the younger dogs dash off into the bush, but luckily does not follow.

Overnight, the two wee dogs meet many creatures of the New Zealand bush they had never seen before. Possums, boar and feral goats are all frightening, sending the dogs deeper amongst the trees and then apart from one another.

One finds a house and the other a road. Will they ever be reunited with their family?

Based on true New Zealand family events, Lost in the WildA Dog’s Tale, is an amazing story of pets being lost and discovered.

The author is a passionate protector of New Zealand native wildlife, and using her own personal tale involving treasured furry family members, this  full-colour paperback picture book highlights the introduced threats our wildlife face.

A glossary at the end of the book explains important terms.

The ending of the story is an unexpected, but happy one.
