They are very excited at an invite to perform at a famous person’s home. There is to be a pool party for her 11 yr old daughter Estella. It’s decided the Silver Stars Dancing Troupe will be ‘dancing’ in the pool in mermaid costumes.

When they arrive at the address, it is nothing like Lulu imagined. She had thought it would be a huge mansion, with tons of staff to do everything for Estella’s family. But the house they are to perform at is an ordinary house in an ordinary street. There is only one adult they can see, and it’s the famous person herself – Estella’s mum! She looks like anyone’s mum, not flashy and glamourous and dressed in designer clothing.

There are only in the house for minutes when a terrible discovery is made. Someone has destroyed things for the party. Even worse is to come when a car key goes missing, someone is locked in the loo during pool practicing, and even more mishaps occur with the decorations.

What is going on? Can the Silver Stars Dancing Troupe work it out? Can they find the culprit before the entire day is ruined?

 

The 2nd in this junior chapter book series, The Pool Party Poisoning is full of fun, mystery and a purple pool. The 1st in this series is quickly explained before this episode begins, to show readers just how the Silver Star Dancers became detectives.

Different personalities appear on the page, along with friendship, understanding and the excitement of performing for a super-famous person and their daughter. Fame however is far from the story as a little rich girl’s true feelings and secret is revealed as a mystery is unravelled.

Synchronised swimming is the plan for the party and more about this sport is included after the story for reader’s interest.

A separate mystery is then waiting for readers to work through. The facts and the suspects are provided, along with the crime. Can you work out the mystery at the pool party and this extra one too. Great practice for young sleuths in the making.
