Georgia Khatchadorian has had to put up with a lot from her brother Rafe in other Middle School novels. But this is Georgia’s story.

Georgia wants to be a rock star. She is the singer in a Middle School Band called We Stink, but they are pretty good. But are they good enough for a Rock Band Competition? Their favourite band, Lulu and the Handbags, is looking for a warm up act for their next concerts.

All they have to do is make a video, put it online and collect votes. If they make the top 12 bands in the voting, they get to audition for the grand prize. Georgia has to admit that although Rafe is annoying, he does come up with some cool ideas. He becomes their publicity manager and instead of votes limping in, they begin to fly in.

Along the way, Georgia still has to deal with school, her friend Sam who she likes and is not sure whether he likes her too, and after school work including Missy Trillin – The Queen of Mean, The Duchess of Darkness, The Sultan of Snobbery. You get the picture.

Georgia is also the song writer of the band and her lyrics are scattered through the book, written about what’s happening in her life at the time. Chocka with funny black and white illustrations, Born to Rock is a great read for, you guessed it – Middle Grade readers.
