Siblings go to stay with their much loved grandmother, but as grandmother’s often do, she can see something isn’t quite right. Sure enough the next day they both have a cold. Nanny Mihi knows just the right thing to help and takes them for a walk.

The bush behind Nanny Mihi’s house (whare) is a treasure trove of plants and trees that can be used as natural medicines. Each day the siblings stay with Nanny, they visit the bush and collect what they need to make healing teas, pulp for scratches and cuts, or leaves to steam to clear their heads.

After a few days when Nanny is feeling tired, her grandchildren know exactly what to do.

This new book in the Nanny Mihi series is not only bilingual, but incorporates te reo in the english telling, with translations nearby. This is a fun, easy way to introduce common words and simple Māori phrases to young readers.

The reader learns along with the siblings about plants that can be used for natural medicines and how they can help with simple ailments.
