Nelson HATES Vegetables, despite his dad being an amazing cook, always serving delicious food to their family table. Delicious to everyone but Nelson. He has strategies to avoid eating veggies, and no-one in his family has noticed.

Nelson loves his grandparents, but doesn’t like staying with them on their farm that surrounds their house in paddocks of vegetables. It’s perfectly fine for them to visit Nelson’s house though – until they bring their newly harvested, award-winning pumpkins. Pumpkin soup, pumpkin pie, mashed pumpkin sandwiches! Not good at all!

School is low in Nelson’s opinion too. Especially his teacher Mr Shue who Nelson believes takes extra pleasure in giving him detentions. This time it’s for making up a story about aliens eating teachers for his class speech.

When his grandparents visit again, his strategy for avoiding veggies isn’t working. Will he actually have to EAT them? But even in his wildest imagination, the result isn’t what he expected.

Veggies are now the good guys. Even the disgusting slop of hidden veggie dinners under his bed!

Suddenly Nelson’s school day includes an Alien Lord, a purple princess, Mr Shue hogtied to a trolley and strange super-powers to save the day!

Illustrated junior fiction with lots of normal day to day stuff for young readers which quickly turns to lots of the opposite! Aliens, Super powers, a princess and a Grandma who knows too much! Funny.
