What is Prince Kal vs the Salivator Alligator about?
Prince Kal has returned to Earth in the Anywhere Cabinet (Portal) from his planet called Imaginaria. He has been sent back by the Queen (his mother) to fetch his little sister called Minkle, and to capture and kill the last remaining Salivator Alligator that was accidentally released onto Earth.
There is also the small problem of the fragile balance of both planets being under threat. This time Kal has come with his Mentor Feliquoz, his smelly pet Oofus named Gree, a Pixie looking for her next achievement badge, and his father’s royal sword.
Plot summary of Prince Kal vs the Salivator Alligator (No Spoilers)
Prince Kallimonka, his mentor, a pixie and his pet Oofus have returned to Earth after a royal decree from his mother the Queen of Imaginaria. Kal is to rescue his little sister and kill the Salivator Alligator that accidentally ended up on Earth. The Queen would like the Salivator Alligator’s head for her wall, thank you very much.
Soon after arriving on the very beach they left from, they hear news of a strange dolphin-like-creature terrorising the bay. They all know what this creature probably is. The last remaining Salivator Alligator. With his father’s royal sword hanging up in their Anywhere Cabinet Portal, Kal is ready for the challenge in slaying it.
He finds his sister quickly, and luckily meets up with the humans that helped him last time. But he also meets Mr Stephen Hepworth, who Kal has found very unpleasant indeed. He knows Mr Hepworth is someone to avoid, but Kal doesn’t know who he really is.
This revelation is all caught up in Imaginaria’s past and now Earth and Kal’s home planet’s future. Can Kal and his human friends defeat an even bigger threat than an ever growing Salivator Alligator?
Review
I was really looking forward to meeting up with Prince Kallimonka again, after the jaw-dropping ending of The Unlikely Diary of Prince Kal the Alien. This next book in the series has followed only months behind the first book, and is even more exciting.
This episode is just as funny and intriguing as the first book, but even more surprising as Prince Kal and his buddies have so much more at stake and a villain even worse than the terrible creature he has to track down. This is a twist I never saw coming, which results in more laughs and action.
This duology is a great read and with lots of illustrations and funny notes throughout, it’s perfect for reluctant readers and anyone who loves to laugh.
