Rowley is back, this time sharing a story he is writing. It is just for fun, to also share with his mum and dad, and maybe for his dad to read to him at bedtime.
But Rowley’s friend Greg is soon involved, whether Rowley likes it or not. Rowley wants the story to be enjoyed by all, with pixies, fairies and good deeds in the mix, but Greg is shaking his head.
There are opportunities here. Money to be made. Licencing toys, movies, food and more! There needs to be action, murder, toilet humour and interesting characters.
Together they write the story, swinging from wholesome to hairy, smiles to vomit, and everything and anything in between. No matter how gruesome Greg wants the story to go, Rowley wraps it up with a happy ending where everyone is home, safe, and of course, polite.
Quick Review
I enjoyed Rowley’s 2nd foray into the book world so much more than the first. Rowley is writing a story, and Greg wants in on it.
The swing between Rowley’s polite, gentle storytelling and his friend Greg’s brash, entrepreneurial, money first, plot later thinking is funny. There are many references to past stories and movies in here too. See how many you can find.
