Vicki and her horse loving family are staying with their good friends when they first hear of the possibility of roaming horses being in danger from the local council. At once they vow to do anything to help, as they have adopted horses before from owners who cannot look after their animals any longer. When they hear of a horse (Pepe) that has been stolen and ridden far too hard by a drunken man, they step in to look after the horse in need.

Pepe’s old owner is saddened by Pepe’s life threatening condition, but relieved Vicki’s family has come to the rescue. With their expertise and love for horses they all do their best to nurse him back to health. It’s a recovery that will take months, and only then will they see if he can be retrained. Pepe was a racer, winning local beach races and he doesn’t know any speed except fast. Vicky would like to ride Pepe in more disciplined competitions. Will she be able to slow him down enough to compete?

This episode in this popular horse lover’s series is told in Vicki’s point of view. Past titles also feature Vicki, and her two sisters Amanda and Kelly have their own stories too.

Showtym Adventures are based on the Wilson sister’s childhoods featuring real events just as in this episode, where a local rural council ruled that the next time a horse was roaming free on the roads in their area, it would be shot. The Wilson family along with their friends The Bennetts, go to their rescue.

In the rear of the book is information about the real Pepe, the characters, a glossary of terms, a top tips section on knowing your jumps and how to teach your pony to jump in five easy steps. With all of these extra features added to a story young horse fans will enjoy, Showym Adventures is perfect for all animal lovers.
