Max Johnson has wanted to join the army his entire life. It’s been a tough life so far – No parents, no money, and no friends to speak of. A trip into the mountains, (paid for by his residential home) is a welcome challenge, putting his well honed skills to the test.
Finally safe and off the mountain, he’s keen to get home, but two men in black have other ideas. They whisk him away from his climbing team and into a double-rotored Chinook helicopter. He has been chosen to try out for an exclusive, secret operations group called the Special Forces Cadets.
With hardly time to consider what’s happening, Max is thrown into SAS type training. It’s ruthless, gruelling and what Max has excelled at all his life. Other recruits are already into their training tests and resentful of his arrival. Max does as he’s always done – head down, focus on the task and own it.
He’s not the best by any means, but is definitely one of the most determined. From out of nowhere he has been dropped into his dream career. If only he can cut it. Then the entire squad (as yet untrained) are thrown into a life or death hostage situation. Will they even survive their first ‘unofficial’ mission?
Exploding with tension, weapons, mud and snow, Siege had me gripped from the first page. The relationships were real, the character’s backgrounds intriguing and the plot pumping with action. Loved it!
