Willow Moss is the youngest in her family of witches. Her mother can speak to the dead and her sister can move things with her mind, but Willow’s only power is finding things. People queue at their gate and tell her what they’ve lost, and Willow summons them back again. She wishes she had a more interesting power. At least until Moreg Vaine, the most famous witch of all; appears before her.
To her shock, Moreg needs Willow’s help. Somebody or something has stolen last Tuesday. When Willow tries to think about that day, it’s a blank. Can it really be true? Moreg commands Willow to pack a bag, as they are going to search for Tuesday together.
Meanwhile, down in the dungeon of a castle, a young man is plotting and scheming on a rebellion against his father, and Tuesday has been caught up in his plan.
As Willow and Moreg search across the land, they meet others confused about last Tuesday – a dragon whose baby vanished from its egg, an upset Troll who can’t remember what happened in an important battle, and others who realise the missing day would account for strange occurrences. Willow herself begins to have dark feelings about it, after flashing visions of her beloved Granny’s hat.
With her new friends, Nolan Sometimes (who can read the past through people’s minds), Feathering (A Cloud Dragon), and her grumpy pet monster, Oswin, Willow’s adventures are more exciting and dangerous than she could ever have imagined.
An amazing story of magic, special spells and potent powers, this first book in the series is chock full of action, adventure, family and new friends. The characters are funny and likeable, and Willow’s quest is not only about solving a mystery, but finally proving herself to her magical family. I really enjoyed it and am keen for the next in the series!
