This book should be read by all New Zealanders to help understand our history from as far back as 1769. This graphic novel explains this simply in three parts:

1: Before Te Tiriti (The Treaty)

2: Te Tiriti o Waitangi (The Treaty of Waitangi)

3: After Te Tiriti

Miscommunications, misunderstandings and translations that occurred and the NZ Wars that followed, are addressed in clear text and illustrations. The Treaty is a huge part of our history and we all need to know the truth behind it.

Not only does it have an added timeline in graphic format, a QR code or URL to read the Treaty in 32 different languages, and a map in the centre of the book showing where the Treaty was signed, if you flip the book over you will find the same story in te reo.

I learnt much from this Graphic Novel. Astounding.
