The Bad Seed revels in being bad. He likes other seeds being scared of him. He likes pushing in on lines, frightening babies, turning up late to everything and never washing.
He’s a Baaaaad Seed!
He can remember a time before he turned bad. This seed was one of hundreds in his sunflower, and it was a happy life. But then the petals dropped and the seeds fell out. His happy life was gone and he only just survives.
Losing everything made him not care anymore. About anything. And then it was easier to be a Baaaaad Seed.
But something has changed lately, and this seed is feeling a little better about things. Maybe even enough to try to find a different way to be and less Baaaad.
Part of a thought-provoking series of picture books, The Bad Seed shows readers how life events can change people. They may be a little different, unfriendly and unhelpful, but maybe there is a reason behind their behaviour?
The Bad Seed is a great kick off for discussion within a classroom or at home about empathy and understanding for those less fortunate – affected by circumstances out of their control.
The fun and expressive illustrations ensure the story isn’t too serious and are engaging for young readers.
