The Big Cheese was once just a tiny curd in a bowl of other curds, but one day he decided he wanted more. He wanted to be the BIG CHEESE.
His quest to be the best at EVERYTHING began, resulting in sports, speaking, theatre, and fashion FAME. Along with it he is loud and proud about all of his achievements and medals and awards.
The Big Cheese is all set to repeat his complete sweep of all the competitions at his Village all-day Cheese-Cathlon. After all, he’d won it every other year, so why not this one, right?
But Big Cheese finds another cheese on his heels in the running race, outsmarting him on the chess board and on other contests too! This cannot be happening!
And not only was this new cheese clever, he didn’t rub it in Big Cheese’s face at all. He was just Gooood.
Is this another way of winning? Can Big Cheese learn from this newcomer – after his disbelief, anger, and grief at NOT being the Big Cheese any longer?
The seventh in this fun picture book series about emotions, behaviour, understanding others and growing up. The Big Cheese learns the hard way that having humility about your achievements is a wonderful thing to have, and boasting and blowing your own trumpet isn’t.
What’s great about this story (besides the humour and the brilliant illustrations by Pete Osward), is that Big Cheese discovers this himself. He’s not put down or humiliated by the cheese that beats him. Big Cheese has to go through all the emotions of being knocked off his pedestal, himself.
The change in him is marvellous – for himself, and the others around him.
Another great addition to this fantastic series!
