Easter has arrived in Dog and Cat’s house. But where are the lovely, chocolate, Easter eggs? The Easter Bunny Hunt Book Review Cover

Dog is really worried as he looks at the empty basket, but his buddy Cat is quickly to the rescue.

“Don’t fret, Dog.”

Cat rushes out to look for the Easter Bunny, to let him know he has missed their home with his yummy treats. Dog stays home but helps with a clue.

Cat follows the clue from Dog, but brings home the completely wrong animal.

Dog sends Cat out again and again,

“No, Cat, no.”

Their home is quickly filling with animals keen to celebrate Easter. Dog is fretting more than ever as a party gets into full swing.

Finally, Cat arrives home again with another animal. He has long ears, a twitchy nose, a basket of eggs, a fluffy tail, and big paws. It’s the Easter Bunny!

A follow up to this author/illustrator team’s book In or Out, and based on Stacy Gregg’s own pets.

The Easter Bunny Hunt is perfectly timed for Easter 2024 and a fun read aloud for children aged 3+. I can easily imagine children sitting on a knee or a kindy/school mat, listening and enjoying the illustrations. Cries of, “No, that’s not the Easter Bunny!” will be heard as Cat gets it wrong again and again. Another fun game will be asking young children what the next animal might be, going on Dog’s clues.

Fun, bright, and a future Easter staple on Aotearoa New Zealand bookshelves – or any other bookshelf lucky to have it.
