The narrator of this story is a Good Egg. What does that mean?
A Good Egg is someone who likes doing things for other people, like carrying groceries, doing jobs for others or saving a cat from a tree.
This Good Egg lives in a carton with eleven other eggs. They aren’t into helping others. They like having fun, don’t care if they break things and demand attention constantly.
Good Egg tries to keep things on the right track, cleaning and tidying and keeping calm whilst setting a good example for his fellow eggs. Even when they aren’t very nice.
Soon he can’t take any more. There are cracks showing from all the pressure he is under and has put on himself to look out for the other eggs.
Maybe it’s time for Good Egg to look after himself?
Part of a thought provoking series of picture books, The Good Egg is for all those (young and old) who always put others first, often at their own expense.
Sometimes this is detrimental to these kind people and they have to know when to look after themselves too, stepping back and taking a rest.
The Good Egg is such a clever way of highlighting these wonderful people among us and asking young readers (and ourselves) whether we have someone like this in our midst. Could they do with some kindness too?
