Straight into the action, young Baarnubus (who prefers Barny, thank you) is bailed up against the barn wall byThe Nerd Herd Book Review Cover Ringo, the farm dog. Barny knows Ringo is a bully, and as usual he tries to talk his way out of the sticky situation.

Back with his friends Shaarma the Llama, and a vain Angora Goat called Billy the Kid, Barny complains about being bullied all the time by the farm cat, dog and even the pig (called Kevin Bacon). Safety in numbers is the game. Forming a gang is the answer. A gang needs a name. Wooly Bullies!

These three friends argue until they reach another name – The Nerd Herd. Now they just have to prove themselves to the rest of the animals to get some respect!

Chickens are vanishing in a panic of feathers every night. If Barny and his buddies can stop it, they will be heroes. Putting their skills, courage and ideas together, they hatch an attack plan, and another, and another…

I was laughing out loud at the antics of these three animals. Barny’s puns are terrible and funny at the same time, and Billy’s vanity endless. Llama Shaarma’s wisdom tries to keep her friends safe, but Barny is a never-give-up kind of lamb.

Fans of the Bad Guys Series will love this new group of heroes. Instead of dangerous animals getting together to improve their reputation, three meek animals form a gang to improve theirs. The illustration style fills the pages, and the story is split into 8 chapters.

Warning – The action stops in the middle of the last page – To be Continued…. Loved it!

Looking forward to more in the series.
