Eugene and his brother Miles have settled on the island. His parents are working on making it pest free. Something that Eugene does miss isThe Pet Problem Book Review Cover his dog Jupiter. His grandma is now looking after Jupiter, and she often emails photos of him.

Eugene had asked his dad if Jupiter can come on the island, promising to keep him away from the birds, but dad says it’s not a good idea. When Grandma tells them one morning she’s coming to visit, Eugene pleads for Jupiter to come too, knowing already what the answer will be.

The brothers set off on a day adventure with a two-way radio in Eugene’s pack. They are going to make a track. Climbing over a fallen log reveals something worrying. A large egg. It’s broken and there is no sign of what was inside. They hope for the best but fear the worst as they rush home.

Dad is worried, and for the first time, he shows his sons some of his important work saving eggs just like this. Suddenly Grandma has arrived! Eugene is feeling a little sad about the egg, and Grandma has brought a surprise. Oh no! After what the boys have learnt it’s not a good surprise.

Dad explains why Grandma has brought a different dog than Jupiter.
