Beginning with a rainbow, this picture book explores many emotions we all experience. These chosen emotions are common and easy for small children to identify and understand.

Each rhyme is eight lines long, and within the rhyme is an emotion, an action and a colour – attributed to that feeling. eg happy = yellow.

The design of the poem also includes different fonts, accentuating the action or feeling, and also drawing the reader to the text.

A note for Parents in the rear of the book and useful Questions for Parents and Teachers to use at home and in the classroom adds even more to this helpful resource. Illustrator Rebekah Ballagh is a trained counsellor and mental health advocate in New Zealand. She says…
